CORO ALLEGRO • David Hodgkins, Artistic Director • Yulia Yun, Accompanist

We proudly welcome Boston's award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus for the world premiere of "Sketch for Terezín/Does Grace," a TMF commission by Jeremiah Klarman. They will perform with members of the Arneis Quartet.
Coro Allegro is Boston’s award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus, this season celebrating 30+ years with David Hodgkins as Artistic Director. Dedicated to bridging disparate communities through extraordinary music, Coro is known for critically acclaimed programming, performances and recordings of works by diverse contemporary and classical composers. A winner of the Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, Coro Allegro has performed 26 world premieres and released four recordings, including “Awakenings” on the Navona Records label, which earned praise from Gramophone for “deeply affecting . . . meaningful additions to the choral repertoire.” Their upcoming album, “We Are Here,” will feature new works by American composers bearing witness to the importance of international human rights.
Uzbekistanian-born accompanist Yulia Yun is a graduate of the Uspensky Special Music School for Gifted Children in Tashkent, where she majored in music theory, composition and piano performance. She has given numerous solo and chamber music concerts in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Korea and has made appearances as a guest soloist with Uzbekistan Philharmonic Orchestra, Tashkent Symphony Orchestra, Tashkent Chamber Orchestra and Uzbekistan Youth Symphony Orchestra. A third prize winner at the Youth International Piano Competition in Turkmenistan, and first prize winner at the Uzbekistan National Piano Competition, Ms. Yun was awarded a full scholarship at Northern Kentucky University, where she studied with Professor Sergei Polusmiak. She holds a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Longy Conservatory of Bard College, where she studied with Mrs. Eda Mazo-Shlyam and Mrs. Ludmilla Lifson. She has been accompanist for Boston Ballet school and company since 2012. In August of 2015, she was granted an Artist visa to continue her career as a professional musician in the United States.
